Abstract

The economic development of a region as a result of the development of touristic activities is possible only if in a certain lapse of time, the tourism units draw the local work force, use the products and the services of diverse local industries in order to modernize the accommodation units, public alimentation and entertainment units, etc. If the goods and the services are acquired from other regions, one cannot speak of a growth of the local industry, nor of a regional economic development, as a result of tourism development.

Keywords: tourism, tourism development, regional economic development
