Abstract
Barsa Land is an integral part of the rich Romanian tourist heritage, as an exceptional tourism area in Romania.
The progress of Barsa Land calls for the inclusion of regional sustainable development principles in its development. In this respect, one can outline the significance of studying and analyzing tourism evolution throughout the past few years.
The need to know the fluctuations recorded in the outcome of tourism activities has allowed for an approach to issues related to the extent of correlations between operation accommodation capacity and the number of tourist arrivals in Romanian accommodation units between 1998 and 2006.
The mutual involvement, the existence, scope, shape and intensity of the connection between the two indicators approached are tackled by the present paper.
Statistical methods employed have been applied based on data available from the County Statistics Department.
The conclusions drawn following the analysis of results thus obtained make up a higher stage in completing the image of regional tourism in relation with the setting up and application of regional sustainable development strategies.
