Abstract
This study of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry (IPI) attempts to identify existing and proposed business models for the choice of strategic options for the success of the Indian pharmaceutical industry in the New Patent Regime. As part of the study, a number of company and industry reports, documents, research articles have been referred and industry expert interviews have been undertaken to and analyzed in an attempt to indicate the options and strategies for the Indian pharma industry which would be used as a basis for further research. The attempt of the study is also to discuss the current situation of the IPI which is moving in the direction of consolidation where innovation will be a key to firm success, and highlight the emerging business model based on the strategic options available.
