The article compares trade competiveness of creative industries between China and other major economies in the last decade based on an overall framework of creative economy. Specifically, it investigates international competitiveness, import and export volume as well as other major indicators for creative industries. The idea that China has already 'leapfrogged' in her industrial development strategy through creative industries is raised by this paper as well as a critical assessment of current limitations in the future development of China's creative industries, namely, China's trade imbalance in general and the imbalance between creative goods and services in particular. Suggestions were made to enhance creativity and increase the consumption of creative goods and services for the future transformation of Chinese creative industries.
