Abstract
Communities must be made accessible for people with disabilities and for people seeking to age in place. Property, land use, real estate, housing, and zoning professionals must learn the requirements of our disability laws, and they must work with urban planners and disability rights professionals to make our communities safe and easy to navigate for everyone. This article explores the need for advancing accessibility while highlighting some of the key difficulties in achieving greater success. The article includes discussion of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), and the Rehabilitation Act (RHA).
